For public speaking and debate, it is crucial for students to understand diverse topics. In this way, they can utilize their background information and construct relevant arguments on stage, and to apply their knowledge to real-world situations. Our monthly themes are:
Season 1: March - Equality April - Environment May - Law and Justice
Season 2: June - Culture July - Science and Technology August - International Relations
Season 3: September - Education October - Politics November - Religion/Philosophy
Season 4: December - Health January - Economic February - Media and Communications
To deepen students' understanding of those themes, we have different public speaking and debate topics in class. For example, in April, our topics are relevant to Environment. We also provide students with monthly-themed magazines. The magazines explain definitions, the importance of the topic, discuss the key trade-offs in public speaking and debate, provide important background information and relevant events, etc.
