LearningLeaders cultivates students' abilities for the long term while the college advising/consulting industry maximize short term result for college application.
Comparing LearningLeaders to college consulting would be similar to comparing long and short term benefits.
Most college consulting companies provide a one-year service which includes helping with college selection, essay writing, and interviews. Slightly longer services may extend to the beginning of high school, where consultants guide students through activity and internship planning. The goal of these services is to provide students the best possible outcome for university admissions. Along the way, students may also improve in their writing skills and have a clearer vision of college life.
LearningLeaders on the other hand, focuses more on student development over an extended period of time. From 5th through 12th grade, students here practice a variety of different skills: critical thinking through reading, writing, and research, social interactions through team work and competitions, and confidence through constant exposure to public speaking opportunities (debates/public speaking performance, competitions). We believe that these skills will inevitably transfer over when it comes time for college application. Students will be able to better communicate strengths and weaknesses to admissions officers through their writing, interviews, competition results, and career aspirations. Essentially, we coach students to become independent thinkers and doers.
But we don't stop there. This improving communication is a lifelong journey and being able to recognize the significance of effective communication wherever they go is a key to success.
